Science Fair Projects For 7th Grade
Finally we have done all this hard work and now we need to put it all together and give the best presentation of our lives. There will be lots of kids presenting, depending on the size of your school or the size of your competition entire buildings could be dedicated with 1000 of different presentations taking place. That is why we have to make sure that we are organized and that we can present our main points of our science experiment an easy to understand and a short time frame. This will make it easy on the judges to evaluate our project and take the time to grade our work.
Project Summary aka “ Abstract “
We need to write a short summary of our project this portion is called our “Abstract”. You can think of it as a small essay which basically answered what the purpose of our project was meaning what questions we tried to answer. The Abstract should also include the experiment, our analysis and what results we came up with.
Our Science Report
Writing a report may seem very hard especially for younger students but don’t be scared, our work is pretty much done at this points. If you took proper notes, if you write all your measurements and your observations down, if you took pictures and created a few diagrams the report will be easy. We are simply going to write about everything we did from start to finish.
- What question did we answer?
- How did we do our experiment?
- What did our experiment show?
- What conclusions can we draw from our project?
- How could we improve it in the future?
Our science report is basically a guide we are going to write for anybody who wants to do the same project so we want to make sure that it’s detailed enough to ensure others can’t make any mistakes.
Other Items needed for science fair projects for 7th grade
We need a notebook which is basically our binder that contains all of our data, measurements, observations, changes and results. We need lots of pictures and diagrams so that people can quickly and easily see our results. Diagrams, Charts and other visual aids will also be very important to make our presentation look good.
How do our Science Fair Project Board
This video is best for science fair projects for 7th grade it shows lot of examples on how to display your science fair board. Take not of the many pictures, diagrams and experiment samples that are presented. Feel free to be creative and make it look unique. Don’t go overboard, make sure that there is plenty of blank space between your pictures and your notes. An easy to follow rule is that somebody should be able to look at your board and understand what you initial question was and what results you came up with.
Make sure that you practice explaining the project in your own words. Make sure that its around five minutes long and that it covers everything from start to finish. We also want to make sure to explain what experiments we used and what the results show.
Have your friends, parents, and other students ask you some questions about the project so that you can be comfortable answering. This will prepare you well for the interview with the judges for science fair projects for 7th grade.
Make sure that you smile and show excitement during your presentation, after all we have worked hard on our experiment and you deserve to be proud of everything you have done. Make sure to review your notes and your report so that that you are familiar with all the steps that you took in finishing your project. Make sure you dress for the occasion; this is your time to shine.
How do judges determine a winning science fair project?
Judges look at a few different criteria when they evaluate science fair projects for 7th grade so let’s go over a few and make sure that we are prepared to win.
The Judges want to see that you have undertaken a unique and interesting topic, if we did our research in the beginning this portion should have been taken care of already.
They also want to see you have a unique take on the question, how you did your experiment, your organization and the details especially. In order to get this portion correct we need make sure that we really wrote everything down and organized it in such a way that most questions are already answered. Make sure that your testing and experiments show your creative side.
Other than that Judges want to see that you understand the scientific method and that you show skill in finding a challenging question and how you went about answering it.
